Wisconsin Ginseng farmers account for 95 percent of the total cultivated ginseng production of the United States. The Wisconsin Ginseng Seal® provides consumers with a simple, convenient method of identifying authentic Wisconsin Ginseng at the point of purchase.
For several years, the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin (GBW) had been troubled with serious trademark infringements across China. Counterfeit products bearing the GBW seal, a registered trademark in both the U.S. and China, were being sold through major retail channels all over China.
As the official representative of GBW in China, MZMC partnered with law firms as well as U.S. and Chinese government agencies to cleanse the market of these illegal products. We brought the GBW trademark issue to the U.S. Ambassador to China, the Deputy Director General of the China State Administration of Commerce and Industry (SAIC), and the Director General of the China Trade Mark Office (CTMO).
In less than one year, forty infringers were identified while more than 30 local Administrations of Commerce and Industry (AIC) seized illegally labeled products and fined the manufacturers and retailers. Ten infringers ultimately settled with GBW through court mediation. Today, very few of the illegally labeled products can be found in official retail channels in China.
