Work Scope

  • Develop Chinese-language brand names for proprietary table grape varieties for the China market, creating three culturally grounded naming options for each of four varieties that reflect positive Chinese cultural meanings rather than direct phonetic transliteration.
  • Conduct preliminary trademark landscape research to identify potential conflicts prior to formal filing.
  • Coordinate with trademark agencies to refine naming strategies, including second-round naming options based on agency feedback.
  • Advise on trademark strategy, including recommendations on whether to abandon applications or pursue acquisition of similar existing trademarks.
  • Manage coordination through the trademark registration process in China.
  • Provide ongoing brand support through management of Sun World’s China social media presence, publishing two articles per month to support licensee development and market visibility.

Outcomes

  • Established culturally resonant Chinese variety names supported by trademark due diligence and agency coordination.
